ELK GROVE, Calif. – Oct 1, 2019 – Elk Grove Unified School District joins 1,355 other schools being recognized by the California PBIS Coalition for their dedication in the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). In order to achieve recognition by the California PBIS Coalition, a school is rated in 7 areas of PBIS implementation: 1.) Effectively teach appropriate behavior to all children; 2.) Intervene early; 3.) Use of a multi-tier model of service delivery; 4.) Use research-based, scientifically validated interventions to the extent available; 5.) Monitor student progress to inform interventions; 6.)Use data to make decisions; and 7.) Use assessment for three different purposes. Of the 20 schools receiving recognition, 16 schools achieved the Silver recognition, two schools earned Gold recognition and one was honored with the highest recognition possible, Platinum.

Director of Student Support and Health Services, Don Ross noted, “These dedicated teams implement the PBIS framework with fidelity at these schools and ensure that every student feels supported and connected to positive interventions that will meet their needs.
