Virtual Honeybee Classroom Announced – Motivating Students Impacted by COVID

Blenheim, Ontario, Canada – Wildflowerbeefarm.com today announced the Virtual Honeybee Classroom, a new service.  The Virtual Honeybee Classroom is a way for parents and teachers to encourage students to study the habitat, ecology, and environmental issues related to the honeybee.  Each Monday, new video clips are provided with a specific research question for students to pursue.  Students then have five days to complete the project based on that question.   This service offers a new way for parents and teachers to provide students with motivational strategies to encourage research and writing skills.

Founder Dr. Henry J Svec states that this weekly enrichment activity asks questions that we all need to consider when we think of our environment and the plight of the honeybee.  By the end of September, we will also have real-time data, accessed remotely,  on the temperature, humidity, and sound within individual hives. “Regardless of what happens with COVID and further restrictions, students will be able to virtually attend the Farm, watch and learn about honeybees and their environment,” says Henry Svec, founder of the company. “We realized that transforming our 50-acre farm back to nature would, in a small way, help our environment.  COVID and the challenges teachers and parents face in educating children has now resulted in our providing this service to help.”

Features and benefits of the Virtual Honeybee Classroom include:

  • Weekly Video Clips of from 2-5 minutes to motivate students
  • Access to real time data on hive activity and conditions to promote Scientific inquiry
  • High-Interest Activities to engage students in the learning process

The Honeybee Virtual Classroom will be available starting Monday September 14, at a membership price of just $50/year per family or classroom.
